Hearing Examiner

The City of Spokane Valley Hearing Examiner conducts public hearings on various land use applications, appeals of land use determinations made by divisions of the Planning Department, and certain other quasi-judicial matters. This includes applications for rezones, preliminary plats, variances, conditional use permits, and shoreline permits.

Schedule of Hearings

Hearing Examiner Decisions

Decisions by the Hearing Examiner are subject to appeal to Superior Court based on the record established before the Examiner. Please note: The Hearing Examiner is an attorney appointed by the City of Spokane Valley. The Hearing Examiner's Office is not part of the city's Planning Department.

After the Public Hearing on a land use action or Code Compliance infraction is held, the Hearing Examiner carefully considers the application/case as presented and renders a legal decision on the matter. As soon as the city receives a copy of the decision, it is published on the website for instant access.
